Half of the classes were conversation and the other half were grammar. As Veronika and Leah picked up on our weaker points they provided us with exercises and light homework to address our needs - always done in a relaxed and humour filled atmosphere. Whether we had questions about activities in and around Bariloche or the most reliable and economical way to transfer money or local hikes or weekend destinations, Veronika, Leah and Antu were always very helpful- they were always looking out for us, not just wanting us to enjoy our classes. Experiencia fantástica: I had a great time at Bariloche. The teaching was excellent and I appreciated the fact that it was about learning spanish and not about learning to pass exams. The explanations and practices were so much more relevant and helpful than other courses that I have done. I have to say also that the teachers were excellent. I was in Bariloche for a month with six hours of lessons per day, five days per week. I never got bored, never thought that I wasn't learning, and always felt a sense of getting better.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a week of really fun and interesting private classes with my “Profesora” Veronica at La Montaña Spanish School. We had great conversations, worked on listening comprehension, and did exercises to help improve my pronunciation to try and sound more like a native speaker. I believe that my accent improved by the end of the week! She also explained the subtleties of the variety of Spanish that is spoken in Argentina that make it sound distinct. Veronica was also extremely helpful in providing information and assistance to go snowboarding at Cerro Catedral and on how to navigate Bariloche in general. If you are going to be in Bariloche and have time for Spanish classes I highly recommend La Montaña School.

Experiencia fantástica: Well worth it. The facilities are adequate, but the teachers are very good and the learning is powerful. The administrator is always available through WhatsApp and responds quickly (I only had a few small issues during five weeks of classes).

Experiencia fantástica: Very motivated teachers who organize the lessons. It has a maximum of 8 to 9 students per class, usually less, that's how I experienced it. This allows teachers to respond well to students' learning needs. Teaching material with sheets and without textbooks also allows for more flexible teaching. The rooms are a bit cramped, but that didn't bother me personally. The area around Bariloche offers many hiking opportunities and is very attractive for nature lovers. The restaurants and cervezas as well as the chocolate shops are also worth a visit.

Experiencia fantástica: I spent 5 months in Argentina and studying Spanish at La Montaña was a highlight of my trip. I spent 2 weeks at the school. I had group classes with Vicky and private lessons with Veronica. La Montaña's quality of teaching far exceeds most other schools in Argentina (I went to several language schools). The school director + teachers have a passion for teaching that makes the learning experience fun. Also, the school is located in a beautiful location, surrounded by lakes and mountains. The school organized excursions included hikes in the surrounding area. Hiking while speaking Spanish + learning about the local culture - wow! What an experience. Finally, I witnessed other students go from not speaking a word of Spanish to being fairly fluent in 6 weeks (with a host family stay) - it's rare to see this and it's a testament to the quality of teaching. If you're considering going to La Montaña - just do it! You won't regret it.

Experiencia fantástica: La Montaña was recommended to me by one of my friends who told me that after visiting several language schools across the Spanish-speaking world, Veronica (from La Montaña) was the best teacher he had ever had. Having heard this praise, I went with high expectations, all of which were fulfilled by the school’s exceptional quality of teachers. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking to learn a lot of Spanish, thoroughly, in a short space of time. In my two week course, Veronica and Federico made classes stimulating and interactive experiences which catered to the needs of all students in the classroom. I learnt a tremendous amount while having fun at the same time. The days also finish in the early afternoon, allowing time to do hikes near Bariloche or participate in some of the school’s excellent excursions. Accommodation organised by the school was also excellent: I stayed at a hostel for one week and homestay for the other. These were both comfortable options which provided plenty of opportunity to practise the knowledge I had gained from the classroom. I’d highly recommend the homestay option for people who really want to deepen their language learning experience by immersing themselves in an Argentinian family home - delicious home cooked meals and regular chats with a warm and welcoming family were easily one of the highlights of my stay.

I came with limited Spanish and her explanations were clear, memorable and tailored to my level: I learnt so much in the week and feel much more self-sufficient for my time in South America. Having the classes in the morning didn’t restrict my time in Bariloche either: many activities are half-days and I actually really liked having the structure of the classes to organise my days. Highly, highly recommend :)

Wir haben in dieser Zeit viel gelernt und konnten einiges an Spanisch für unsere Reise durch Argentinien und Chile mitnehmen. Wir haben die Woche bei "La Montaña Spanish School" sehr genossen. Wir waren vier Studenten in der Klasse. Dies war für uns eine optimale Voraussetzung um erfolgreich Spanisch zu lernen. Während dieser Woche gab es auch einen Kochkurs auf Spanisch für die ganze Schule. Auch Ausflüge, welche uns an wunderschöne Orte in Bariloche führten, wurden gemacht. Wir wohnten während dieser Woche bei einer Gastfamilie in der Nähe der Schule. Weil wir uns mit ihnen nur auf Spanisch unterhalten konnten, waren wir gezwungen, unser Gelerntes sofort anzuwenden. Obwohl es nicht immer einfach war, schätzten wir diese Herausforderung sehr. Zusätzlich wurden wir jeden Tag sehr lecker bekocht. Vielen Dank Diana & Claudio. Experiencia positiva: We spent two weeks at La Escuela Montana, and had a great experience. Because we are at two different learning levels we were in different classrooms. The teachers , Veronica, and Vicki were both excellent. Vicki spoke very little English, so her class was completely in Spanish even though it was the beginner class. Veronica is a very skilled teacher and was able to teach some complicated concepts. The classes sizes varied but from day to day and week to week. Our smallest class size was two and the largest was 10. There were students from many countries and the camaraderie really added a lot to the experience. Veronica arranged two afternoon activities per week, which were typically short hikes to beautiful and less known locations. Our only regret is that we did not sign up for a whole month. Note that as of this writing, some of the information on the school website is out of date. The school went through a lot of changes due to the pandemic, including a different location in Bariloche. Also, I recommend making your school arrangements directly through Veronica at the school rather than through Academia Uruguay as we accidentally did. Experiencia fantástica: I attended La Montaña Spanish school in Bariloche for four weeks starting in the beginning of December 2022. Before I came to Bariloche, my Spanish was below intermediate level and my conversational skills were simply non-existent. Verónica, the main teacher at La Montaña, and her assistants managed to turn me into an imperfect but effective Spanish speaker. In the last few days of attending La Montaña I was able to have a three-hour conversation with a newly-acquainted Argentinian friend who spoke exclusively in Spanish. Verónica is a phenomenal teacher who has a unique way of clearly explaining the most important aspects of the Spanish language. She also has a unique presentation style whereby her students never lose focus. I was really impressed with what the school has to offer and with my own progress. Asistí a la escuela de español La Montaña en Bariloche durante cuatro semanas desde principios de diciembre de 2022. Antes de venir a Bariloche, mi español estaba por debajo del nivel intermedio y mis habilidades conversacionales eran simplemente inexistentes. Verónica, la maestra principal de La Montaña, y sus asistentes lograron convertirme en un imperfecto pero eficaz hablante de español. En los últimos días de asistir a La Montaña pude mantener una conversación de tres horas con un amigo argentino recién conocido que hablaba exclusivamente en español. Verónica es una profesora fenomenal que tiene una manera única de explicar claramente los aspectos más importantes del idioma español. She very quickly adapted herself to my level of Spanish and maximised the time we had. I know from my experiences with other language teachers that they don't all have this ability. She was very patient in explaining the uses of the verbs ser and estar, which any student of Spanish will know can be extremely difficult to grasp. She helped me immensely with pronunciation and she has certainly enhanced my understanding of Spanish. Experiencia fantástica: My experience at La Montana Spanish School was insightful & delightful! I took 3 weeks of private lessons with Veronica. She is a seasoned pro and was able to quickly establish my strengths & weaknesses in my comprehension, pronunciation, etc. She realized I was a visual learner and always had interesting tools for learning, not just read and repeat. She also spent lots of time and gave me additional tools when I was struggling with a particular problem. The homework was seriously fun! One thing I appreciated was how fun Veronica makes learning Spanish. She set up multiple gatherings (meals, drinks, tango lessons) with other students. It gave us students a nice feeling of community. She also knows the best places to get chocolate and coffee! I highly reccomend LA Montana for those looking for an educational yet fun learning experience.

Experiencia fantástica: After I've been in Bariloche at La Montaña for 3 weeks I had an other 3 months spanish lessions online. The quality of the online courses is very good and I learned a lot in this private lessions.

Experiencia fantástica: The school is run in a friendly and flexible manner. I found the experience really pushed on my knowledge of Spanish and allowed me to take the next step in my learning. I would absolutely recommend the school if you are hoping to learn Spanish. My group lessons were good and they had an immediate effect on my Spanish speaking capabilities but unfortunately they were cut off by Covid-19. At first I wanted to wait for the school to reopen because I didn’t like much the idea of online classes but once I realised it wouldn’t be possible to return to the school during my trip Veronica was very cooperative in arranging the lessons that suited me best and Brenda has since done a great job of providing the online classes. I find the lesson difficult because you’re asking a lot of your brain when you learn a new language but the lessons are made easier by Brenda’s friendly approach and lighthearted attitude.

Experiencia fantástica: After deciding to spend a year in Bariloche on sabbatical, our family of 4 signed up for language school with La Montaña. In essence, Veronica and the rest of her team were our first touch points to Bariloche and Argentina in general. Not only are they a top-notch learning environment - deliberately catering to each of our individual needs with creativity and patience - but they taught us all sorts of unexpected gems. We were blown away by the amount of cultural and historic context the teachers gave us in just a few short weeks. The staff at La Montaña is so thoughtful, caring and genuinely helpful. They answered all SORTS of bizarre questions from us and helped us navigate the first month of the unknown - from a rental car, to long-term housing, to where to shop and hike, to the nuances of communication and how to interpret. They are amazing humans. Sadly, our sabbatical was cut short by a few months because of the virus but we continue to work directly with the La Montaña teachers we have come to love via online classes. And believe it or not, our Spanish just keeps getting better! Highly highly recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: I spent two weeks in the school and took part to 4h of group classes in the morning and 2h of private classes in the afternoon every day. This program and the mix between group and private classes were excellent to study spanish for the first time. for me. The groups were always very small which allowed to discuss a lot on every day subjects, which was very usefull to learn vocabulary and language structures. I really liked the methodology used (very interactive) by Omar and Sasha, the two main teachers I got during my stay.

Experiencia fantástica: My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time studying at La Montaña! There was only the two of us in the class which made it so easy to learn. Omar was really helpful and made sure the classes were always fun. He allowed us to request specific topics for the lessons too, so we could tailor them to our needs. We had lessons for 2 weeks (we’d only learnt some very basic Spanish from phone apps beforehand). Today is 2 days after our last class and we had to get our van fixed at a mechanic which was quite daunting! But it went without a hitch, which is all thanks to the classes. The classes are great value for money and we’d definitely recommend. Thanks so much La Montaña!

Experiencia fantástica: I studied Spanish for 5 weeks at La Montana and highly recommend the experience to anyone serious about learning and improving their Spanish while wanting to explore a beautiful area of Argentina. Veronica is responsive and makes your stay run smoothly. The teachers are superb and help each other out. I had four teachers during my 5 weeks, and really benefited from their different teaching styles. That was a huge plus for me. I also liked the supporting materials and the creative approaches they used in their instruction (games, recordings, conversations, readings, exercises, and so on). There is a break in the morning so you can connect with other students over tea and snacks. Twice a week the school offers an outing, which varies in success depending on interest. I easily got to do everything I wanted to do, and everyone will help you figure it out if you ask. Veronica creates a Whatsapp group that you can be a part of to get communicating with your fellow students. This school is also family friendly, and kids are able to have their own program while parents learn too. I opted to do a family stay and could not have been happier. Bariloche is a great town to spend time in, as I did, for a month, as it has many activities. I was there in summer (January & February) so got to hike, mountain bike, para-sail, horseback ride and travel to adjacent towns easily. Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I traveled for five months with our children; ages 9, 7, and 4. Our last stop was Bariloche, Argentina where we took lessons at La Montana for two weeks. La Montana was able to accommodate our varying ability levels, learning goals, and ages. The program they designed for my children was age appropriate and engaging; including cooking lessons and walking trips to stores. My husband, who had never taken Spanish, has a good foundation for speaking and a commitment to continue learning now that our trip is over. I took Spanish all four years of high school and made more growth in two weeks in listening and speaking than in all those years. La Montana goes beyond instruction to create a home away from home through its weekly programing that helps students interact with other travelers and instructors. They organized activities for students to see some of the beautiful sites in Bariloche and offered weekly cooking lessons. As a family who is interested in immersing our kids more authentically in the countries we visit, I highly recommend La Montana for the language, cultural, and social experience.

Experiencia fantástica: For most of 2017, my wife and I spent much of our free time planning a semester-long journey through South America for our family of five, including three kids from ages 8 to 12. We are now in month three of this life-changing journey, and it is time to step back and say thank you to La Montaña for the incredible support they gave us in the critical first month of our trip. We set four goals for this journey: 1. Improve our Spanish language skills, 2. Go deep on the history of indigenous cultures and the impacts of colonialism, 3. Spend more time together, and 4. Experiment with unschooling. My wife and I, both educators, felt pretty good about tackling 2 through 4, but we really needed to trust a partner on the language instruction. We spent months looking for a place to spend our critical first month doing intensive Spanish language study. Could we find a place that could meet a wide range of learning needs that we didn´t really know how to diagnose well on our own? From my wife, a rookie with no formal Spanish study, to three kids with between 2 and 5 years of Spanish immersion, to me, who majored in Spanish language, lived in Spain twice, but who hadn’t spoken much at all for more than 20 years (Rusty doesn´t even begin to explain where I was) we were really unsure if we could get the right help from one school. Could we find a place that would help the kids feel at home after a big disruption in their day to day routine? Could we make this work in a schedule that still gave us time to explore the outdoors and get started on studying indigenous people groups? Could we find a school that could serve kids and adult learners? After incredibly thoughtful conversations with Veronica about our unique needs and her thoughtful diagnosis of our pre-screening surveys, we made the biggest decision of the trip and booked a full month of classes at La Montaña. It was the right call, for sure. Veronica and her team were remarkably responsive to our unique needs, crafting a custom schedule for the five of us before we arrived, making special plans for the kids, tweaking plans for each of us, tuning homework, and keeping us updated on what was next. La Montaña became our home away from home, and we appreciated more and more each week the care everyone on the team took responding not just to us, but to an incredibly wide range of learners from all over the world. As an educator, I was deeply impressed with the skills Veronica and Sasha brought to each class I attended. We all also appreciated the sincere investments they made each week building school-wide culture; the offsite excursions and happy hour events were great ways to meet folks we remain in touch with today. This is a strong team, a strong school, and a gorgeous location to study the Spanish language. Thanks to the entire La Montaña team for taking care of us and giving us a deep foundation in Spanish language that has given us the language foundation and confidence to transform us from disconnected tourists into fluent and humble travelers.

Experiencia positiva: Very good. Very intense although worthwhile. The teachers are of high quality and do what they can to accomodate needs where and when they can. Your Spanish will improve rapidly. One thing which I liked was the idea of writing one piece of 100 words every night ready to read the next morning, where the teacher would identify grammatical shortfalls and clear them up. In this way the classes worked to focus on where I needed help specifically. Highly recommended!
